affinity groups

Affinity:

1. A natural attraction or liking

2. An inherent similarity between persons or things

Want to be involved something creative, fun and others oriented for some time well spent in the spring and summer? Check out an Affinity Group! Affinity Groups are mini groups of current and brand new friends, single or married, who get together around some type of favorite activity or pastime. They are great for encouragement and are a low-key way to invite non-churchgoing friends into some easy-to-attend Christian fellowship. It’s using an interest in a strategic way that God made use in some surprising ways, just through friendship.

Lead an Affinity Group

Our Purpose

Affinity Groups build around a wonderful strength God has blessed Evergreen Community Church with for many years—loving, genuine, vibrant relationships. It's through caring friendships that many people have begun to feel really grow in their faith. Affinity Groups allow people to connect and simply be encouraged through enjoying a common interest type of activity with other like-minded people. They create a welcoming point for brand new or less connected people around the church, and are a vehicle for inviting others into some easy-to-attend Christian fellowship.

AFFINITY GROUP STANDARDS:

  1. The interest must be a wholesome activity.

  2. The groups are to be led (co-leading is recommended) by an Evergreen member or regular attendee.

  3. The nature of the group activity makes it easy for newcomers to join in and participate at any time.

  4. Time/Place/Frequency is set by the leader(s). Groups can meet every few weeks, monthly, or quarterly for special events.

  5. The spirit of the group is loving, caring, joyful, accepting and genuine friendships...very welcoming, enthusiastic and accepting of all people who attend. Leaders and members strive to keep this tone at all times.

For answers to other questions you may have, see our "Affinity Group FAQ".

If the above standards are ones you would support in leading an Affinity Group, please contact David or Sue Beuning at 952-831-8090.
