INFORMATION REGARDING THE TAX IMPLICATIONS OF A GIFT-IN-KIND – Evergreen will acknowledge the receipt of a donated item to the church but cannot place a monetary value on the donated item; for tax purposes the donor is responsible for the valuation. If the item is believed to be worth $5,000 or greater and you wish to take a tax deduction, you should consult your tax advisor; and, at a minimum, you must have a qualified appraisal and you must have either Lynn Newman or Jim Bird sign Section IV of IRS Form 8283 that you or your tax advisor have prepared.
IF YOU PLAN TO DESIGNATE A CASH GIFT FOR THE PURPOSES OF PURCHASING AN ITEM – Evergreen will make every effort to use your cash gift to purchase the item you have designated, however, should someone else donate the item, Evergreen reserves the right to use your cash gift to meet other building needs.
IF YOU ARE ABLE TO OBTAIN AN ITEM “AT COST” - Please make sure have obtained a documented quote and please note that the church is exempt from paying sales tax. Also please not that the church may or may not be able to purchase items “at cost”; it will depend upon whether budgeted dollars are available to pay the “at cost” amount.
